Instant Clone is a feature that allows you to clone a running VM within seconds and it’s instantly on! However, what you should know is that it’s not a full clone. What happens here is the parent virtual machine is quiesced then forked and a child VM is created. The child leverages the storage and memory of the parent.
This will work wonders for virtual desktops, testing and development scenarios.
For example, the virtual desktop scenario you could create the parent VM then start creating your instant clones which will improve deployment time and reduce the required resource capacity.
For testing and development scenarios you can quickly test what you develop because within seconds you have a duplicate environment to you can use, test and destroy when complete.
